Yes you can see Birthday's and Work Anniversaries of any employee in your organization. Whenever an employee is celebrating his birthday or work anniversary, a banner comes up on the homepage as shown below:

And you can celebrate with them by adding congratulatory comments underneath the banner.

You can check all the celebration events in by clicking on View All link in CELEBRATIONS portlet.
